Lapis Lazuli is a bright blue metamorphic rock consisting largely of lazurite, used for decoration and in jewellery. It has also been used a bright blue pigment by crushing lapis lazuli and it is still known by artists and others as a bright blue colour. It is also known as Ultramarine. Lapis lazuli is a deep blue gemstone with golden inclusions of pyrites which shimmer like stars.
Lapis lazuli is an opaque rock that mainly consists of diopside and lazurite.
